Women’s World Cup Draw: Five days to go


The year 2018 may be drawing to a close, but one of its most exciting moments is still to come: the Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ will be held on 8 December 2018! Anticipation is growing among not just the participating teams but also fans from all over the world. Football lovers cannot wait to find out who their country has been drawn against, and in which cities they will be able to watch the matches.

To help the time pass more quickly, and to whet your appetite even more, FIFA.com has started its countdown to the draw. Every day, we are offering a statistic or a piece of information linked to the biggest event in women’s football.

Just five days to go!


The approximate weight in kilograms of the trophy that will be raised aloft by the triumphant captain following the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ in Lyon on 7 July 2019. To be more exact, the trophy weighs 4.6 kg and measures 47 centimetres in height. Designed in 1998 by William Sawaya, the statuette sits on a base engraved with the names of the previous winners. Until now, only the USA (three times), Germany (twice), Norway (once) and Japan (once) have had that honour. Will there be a fifth name added to that list following the 2019 edition in France?
